Hey friends / family / fans!

It’s the Compulsive Lyres. Hope this letter finds you well.

We wanted to touch base to let you know what we’ve been working on, what’s coming up, and how you can help us reach our goals this year!

Just to refresh your memory, we are a co-ed, self-directed a cappella group at the University of Michigan for students who want to share their musical talents with each other, the campus community, and more. A large part of any Michigan experience is the opportunity to participate in a variety of student organizations. While we love to sing, we are so much more than a performance outlet; we blend intellectual, organizational, musical, and social skills in a way that will benefit each member long after graduation. Lifelong friendships are established each semester — we truly think of ourselves as a family.

We have always had strong roots in philanthropy on-and-off campus, and we continue to do so today. Current and previous organizations that we have paired with include Relay for Life, U-M Dance Marathon, Circle K, Alternative Spring Break, and numerous sororities and fraternities to assist them in their own charitable goals, just to name a few.

It’s been a long time since we came out with a CD — our most recent CDs were 12-Step Program (2003) and Little White Lies (2006). This fall, we plan on releasing a new CD, Nothing but the Truth. This CD will feature recent fan favorites including “Let it Be,” “Sweet Caroline,” and “Mad World.”

In order to record and produce a CD, however, we have to incur a substantial cost. The support of our members, families, friends, and alumni is crucial to the ongoing success, musical excellence, and positive impact of the Compulsive Lyres around the University of Michigan and beyond. The production of a CD is an unbelievable opportunity, and a donation of any amount would absolutely help us get the most out of this experience.
