Hello, potential Lyre!

If you’re anything like we were as freshman looking to join an a cappella group, you pretty much have no idea how the whole auditions process works. Maybe you have seen a Michigan a cappella group perform, maybe you know someone in a group, and maybe you’re just awesome and love to sing – regardless, we understand that the process of joining an a cappella group can seem foreign to even the most experienced singer, so we decided to make this guide to help you out!

This guide will be split into a number of sections, so feel free to skip around. Don’t feel like you have to read this entire article – if you’re only worried about callbacks, skip to that section – just use this guide however you want!

Its that time of year again – time to show the Lyres your talent. We hope to see you there!

Auditions will be held today (Thursday, September 8th) and tomorrow (Friday, September 9th) in room C on the third floor of the League. Sadly, all audition slots have been filled, but you can still try and get an audition by walking in – if you’re lucky, someone might drop from their signed up spot, and if there on time, you can take it!

After twenty hours of auditions, we have finally decided who we believe will be the best additions to the Lyres!

We are happy to announce that out of the (roughly) 130 people to audition this semester, we have found three that we feel were born to be Lyres. Please join us in congratulating the newest additions to the Lyres family:

We look forward to seeing what our new group can accomplish, and after getting to know our newest Lyres at a delicious (if absurdly late) trip to Pizza House, we expect nothing but the best. Thanks to all who auditioned – your support is incredibly appreciated. See you all soon!

Auditions will be held on September 8th and 9th, the day after A Cappella Rush. The time will vary, depending on when you sign up for a slot, but the auditions will begin at 5:00PM each day and they will be held in the League, 3rd floor, Room A. Come see us, and the other fantastic a cappella groups on campus perform!

You will not only get a chance to see everyone sing, but will also have time to meet and interact with all the members in the groups as well. This is a perfect time to sign up for auditions with the Lyres, and also functions as a good way to give us a good impression – show us your social/fun side AND that you care about a cappella at the same time.

The event will be held on Tuesday, September 7th, at 7:00 PM in the Michigan Union. See you there!
